Terms & Condition
Last updated: 28 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions explain the arrangements for driving lessons provided by CDC Driving Instruction. They are intended to make clear what pupils can expect from their driving tuition and the arrangements that apply when lessons are booked.
Driving lessons and prices
Driving lessons are provided at the duration agreed when booking. Most lessons are two hours, although 60-minute and 90-minute lessons are also available where appropriate.
Current lesson prices, including manual and automatic tuition and the separate practical test-day charge, are shown on the Prices page of this website.
Payment is due at the end of each driving lesson and may be made by card, bank transfer or cash.
Cancellations and rearranging lessons
If you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson, please let me know as soon as reasonably possible. I will normally rearrange the lesson without charge. However, I reserve the right to charge for a lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, particularly in the case of repeated late cancellations or missed lessons.
If I need to cancel or rearrange a lesson, I will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and arrange another suitable time. There will be no charge for a lesson cancelled by me.
Your driving licence and fitness to drive
Your driving licence and basic eligibility to drive will be checked when you start tuition.
You must be legally entitled and fit to drive at each lesson. If I believe that you are not fit to drive safely, for example because of alcohol, drugs, illness or another safety concern, I may decide that the lesson cannot go ahead.
Pick-up and drop-off locations
Pick-up and drop-off locations can be flexible and may be changed by agreement, including on the day of the lesson, provided the change can be accommodated without affecting other scheduled lessons.
Lesson times and delays
I aim to arrive on time for every lesson. Occasionally, unexpected traffic or other circumstances outside my control may cause a delay. If I am late, I will make up the time by extending the lesson. If this is not possible, the time will be added to your next lesson or the cost of the lesson will be reduced appropriately.
If you are delayed, I will make reasonable efforts to provide the full agreed lesson duration where this can be accommodated without affecting other scheduled lessons.
Practical driving tests and use of the instructor’s car
Pupils are responsible for booking and managing their own practical driving test. If you intend to use my car for your test, please discuss the proposed test date and time with me before booking to make sure I am available.
Use of my car for a practical driving test is at my discretion. I may decline to provide the car if I believe you are not sufficiently prepared for the test or that it would not be safe or appropriate for you to use the vehicle.
Where reasonably possible, I will give you sufficient notice of any decision not to provide my car for the test so that you have the opportunity to change your test appointment and avoid losing your test fee.
A separate test-day charge applies, as shown on the Prices page. This covers the lesson before the test, use of the car for the practical test and the journey afterwards.
Safety and exceptional circumstances
Driving lessons will normally continue in a wide range of weather and road conditions, as gaining experience in different conditions is an important part of learning to drive safely.
In exceptional circumstances, I may rearrange, shorten or end a lesson if I believe that continuing would be unsafe or impractical. Where a lesson has to be rearranged by me, there will be no charge for the cancelled lesson.
Personal information and privacy
I will handle your personal information responsibly and only use it where reasonably necessary to provide your driving tuition, communicate with you and operate the business.
More information about how personal information is collected, used and protected is available in the Privacy Policy on this website.
Complaints
If you have any concerns or are unhappy with any aspect of your driving tuition, please contact me in the first instance. I will deal with any complaint promptly and will aim to resolve the matter fairly and as quickly as possible.
If you are unable to resolve a concern with me, information about making a complaint about a driving instructor is available from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) on GOV.UK.
Refunds
As payment is due at the end of each lesson, pupils do not normally pay for lessons in advance. If a payment has been made in error or an amount is found to be due back to you, please contact me and any refund properly due will be arranged promptly.
